Operated by the African Safari Club, supposedly 5 shields (4 star). Wonderful location and massive pool with a waterfall. The rest? well read on.... travelers to Flamingo resort were NOT pleased! What to expect for real. Rating 2 stars only What a disaster!! 5 shields? More like 1. Supposedly the flag ship of the African Safari Club an outfit in Kent UK. Their other hotels in Shanzu are much worse. Staff. Excellent and friendly (Even though they hardly ever get paid by the UK outfit that runs this joint) Decor. Crap. The rooms are very old and they absolutely stink of drains and mouldy bedding Food. Very unpredictable. 2 star most of time. Facilities. Best location in Kenya, beautiful landscape, gardens, pools and beach. On site facilities very limited, the pool and tennis tables were just rusting pieces of junk. If you want a really wonderful location a pool to die for and peace, this is it!! But eat out and don't aim to spend time in your rooms unless to sleep!! On the PLUS side - you can have a very cheap holiday at this hotel as prices are always much lower than other even 3 star hotels. **UPDATE** African Safari Club went bankrupt last year Oh, make sure you take plenty mosquito repellant.
